WELCOME TO THE MAMMALIAN CELL DESIGNERS' LAB

We study mammalian cell culture engineering for therapeutic protein production and develop valuable tools for mammalian synthetic biology. Particularly, we are interested in applying genome-scale science methodologies for reprogramming mammalian cell lines of interest into designer cell lines for multiple applications including i) therapeutic protein production, ii) diagnosis, and iii) drug discovery. PRINCIPLE INVESTIGATOR

Dr. Jae Seong Lee earned his B.S and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and performed postdoctoral research in the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). His research has focused on the genetic and metabolic engineering of CHO cells for high level production of recombinant proteins. His current research interests are development of efficient mammalian genome editing technologies and rational design of mammalian cells. These efforts will be beneficial for patients and the society by greatly decreasing the therapeutic protein production costs. Ultimately, he would like to contribute to helping the Korean biopharma companies become key players in the competitive therapeutic protein market. Learn more
